On Thursday 28 September, the UK fire industry come together for a very important event: the Women In Fire Safety Awards.
We were delighted to hear that Sophie Mogford-Revess, LGM’s Operations Director, has been shortlisted for Business Manager of the Year.
With this in mind, we asked Sophie for her insight into the Women in Fire Safety event and why this is so important.
She said:
“We need events like Women in Fire Safety to be a visual to young women that this industry is open to them.
“If you can’t see it you won’t be it. Girls and young women need to see women doing the same jobs as men and achieving the same professional heights as men to know that they can do it too.
“It is important to celebrate the achievement of every person in the workplace and when women are constantly shown to have less confidence and less self-promotion in the workplace, these celebrations are even more important.
“Networks of business women allow space for women to discuss, debate and mentor other women, together promoting gender equality in the industry and financial parity.”
